Following the groundbreaking of the Local Plumbers Union Hall in July 2021, Marinship Development Interest was selected as the prime contractor to deliver underground utilities services including water, sewer, electric, telecommunications and street lighting at 1621-1629 Market Street.
Our locally recruited crews shared their expertise towards the revitalization of this neighborhood, which bears historic structures and has housed the Local 38 Plumbers Union Hall since 1947. Marinship teams also provided traffic control for this Suffolk Construction Company project spanning a full city block. The streetscape improvements are set to create enhanced connectivity by introducing pedestrian-friendly design, and opening up the Hayes Valley and Lower Haight communities to greater connectivity.
Marinship is dedicated to contributing our expertise to fueling the operations of this community staple because we come from generations of proud San Franciscans. We are also honored to partner with an organization whose members have fought to gain fair wages, work condition improvements and employment benefits on behalf of California’s skilled trades professionals for more than 75 years. The Local 38 Plumbers & Pipefitters have committed to designating some of their headquarters to affordable housing initiatives in support of San Francisco residents who are experiencing homelessness.
